Keep your legs dark — chocolate brown or black. Color will make them look thicker than they are. It’s wonderful to wear a bright ’60s shift dress over that. Let the color be the top part of you, closer to the face,” Solomon suggests.
Another way to get a similar but easier to wear look is opaque tights. They have the same effect but they can be more flattering since there’s never a break in the line of the leg.
“The tights must be dark, dark opaque. If you can see your toe peeking through underneath, it’s a don’t,” People’s Kaufman advises.
On the designer runways, models wore tights with platform sandals. It looked cool, but it has to be “the right woman, the right shoes and the right hose,” Kaufman said. “It can be easy to go wrong here.”
